Post Your Boarding Pass to Increase Breast Cancer Donations

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the frequent flyer collaboration of BoardingArea, Milepoint,Freddie Awards, Bonusfeber, Ikvliegveel and Frequent Traveler University  have made a very nice offer. For every boarding pass that will be posted on Twitter or Instagram with the hashtag #flyforpink, 5o cents will be donated to cancer related causes up to a total of $10,000 (20,000 boarding passes to reach the maximum). I think this is a great way to spread awareness about breast cancer and I am definitely proud to be part of an organization that is so committed to charitable causes. I … [Read more...]

Amex Gift Card Portal Bonus Returns Through TopCashBack

September 30, 2014 by The Miles Professor 5 Comments

As I was going to sleep, I checked my Twitter and saw a post on MilesToMemories that he read a hint on Frugal Travel Guy that Amex gift cards may be back at TopCashBack this morning. They used to be regularly available for extra cash back, but disappeared from all portals about a month ago. Well, it turns out he was right as TopCashBack does indeed have the Amex gift cards and is offering 1.5% cash back. The catch, however, is that this particular cash back bonus offer ends tonight at midnight. I don't know what that means - it may be better tomorrow or it may be worse or it may be gone … [Read more...]

He Handed $250 To The Bank and Got Nothing

Credit card miles can be a rewarding game, but not everyone wins. Summer from Mommy Points shared some cautionary notes a few days ago about the right financial approach to earning miles with credit cards. That is, if you can’t afford it with cash, then you simply can’t afford it. So while the credit card rewards we earn can take us on wonderful trips all over the world, it will only work with discipline and care. Summer notes that among hundred or perhaps thousands of people she knows who used credit card rewards to their benefit, she knows one who went beyond his limit and spend too much, … [Read more...]

The Miles Professor Partners With Award Magic

There's no question travel with miles opens up possibilities for dream trips most of us could not afford otherwise. In the past year, I've taken big trips to Hawaii, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, Czech Republic, Austria and have a trip coming up to Argentina and Easter Island this December. These are far away destinations, but I managed to find business class tickets and use miles for all of them. Here, at The Miles Professor, I try to teach everyone to be able to do the same and have written a number of posts on how to plan some big trips with miles. And while the trips themselves are … [Read more...]

Today Only! $15 Tickets Houston to SFO on Frontier Airlines

September 22, 2014 by The Miles Professor 1 Comment

Frontier Airlines is apparently offering a crazy deal today and, although it's very specific, I am sure there are at least a few folks who can use it. Frontier Airlines has just launched a new route from Houston to San Francisco and is trying to get the word out by offering tickets for under $15. Valid dates for the $15 fare are November 20 - December 17 and a few dates are available. So if your schedule is flexible, it's worth checking out sooner rather than later. For $39 each way, you can book more days for December 4 to January 29th. I personally am not a big fan of Frontier Airlines as … [Read more...]
